Delicious Garlicky Domino’s Style Twisty Bread. It makes for an excellent side dish along with Pizza Sauce and Donair Sauce for Dipping. Pour the Garlic Sauce back into a small dipping dish and use that for dipping the breadsticks into as well. Add Pesto, Parmigiano and Romano to special Garlic Sauce for a Dominos Twisty Bread. Served with Pizza Sauce, Donair Sauce and Garlic Sauce for Dipping.
I serve these just by themselves with dipping sauce or as a side with Pizza, Pasta, Soups & Stew. Especially good with Pizza Soup or Donair Soup. There are different kinds you can make too!
Domino’s Twisty Bread
At Domino’s, we took the 12″ Hand Tossed Pizza Dough. Flattened it out on a cornmeal surface. Shaped out to a rectangular shape and cut 6–8 strips. Then twisted and placed on the pizza screen to go into the oven.
They went on a rack with a catch pan and Brushed with Sauce. Packaged with your choice of Pizza Sauce, Donair Sauce, or both.
Homemade Domino’s Twisty Sauce
A homemade version of this discontinued sauce can now be made, see Dominos Twisty Bread Sauce for more information. It is summarized below.
- 1/4 C Garlic Butter or Garlic Sauce
- 1/4 C Pesto or more
- Optionally with Parmigiano and/or Romano

Garlic Butter
The Garlic Butter is a good all around Garlic Base to use. It’s a bit more time-consuming since an aioli is made first. But even this is pretty quick using the jar method. Just combine the Garlic, Salt and Oil and purée.

Garlic Butter
- 1/2 C Butter
- 1 tsp Parsley, Green Onions, Dehydrated Garlic & Onion flakes
- 1/2 tsp Butter Popcorn Seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Dill & Aleppo Chili Flakes
- Aioli
- 6 Cloves Garlic
- 1/8 tsp Sea Salt
- 1/2 C Neutral Oil
Garlic Sauce
The Garlic Sauce version is a quick and easy version that is good to use whenever making the twisty sauce for any breads. Just combine the ingredients together and use with Pesto to make the Twisty Bread Sauce. Any leftover Garlic sauce is also good for dipping the Twisty Bread.

Garlic Sauce
- 1/4 Butter & Sunflower Oil
- 1 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Butter Popcorn Seasoning
- pinch Citric Acid
How to make Twisty Bread
The Twisty Bread or Breadsticks is made from prepared Pizza Dough. Shaped and sliced into strips to make the Bread Sticks. Twisted once while being placed on the pan. Which gives Twisty Bread its name and a nice strip of cornmeal that is twisted all the way around.

Pizza Dough
Dust the counter with Cornmeal and place a 12-inch Pizza Dough on top.
If the Dough is a bit sticky, sprinkle some flour on top.

Shaping
Flatten out into a rectangle, pulling the corners to get a rectangular shape. Large enough to yield about 6–8 breadsticks.

Slicing the Breadsticks
With a Pizza Cutter, slice to get about 6–8 strips.

Twist & Place
Pick up each strip and twist once while placing unto the Pizza Pan.
How to Sauce Twisty Bread
Once you have the Twisty Bread Sauce made up. Place some of it into the pan to await the hot bread sticks.

Hot Twisty Bread
Immediately from the oven, place the breadsticks into the tray with the Sauce using Tongs.

Brush & Remove
Brush the Twisty Bread by picking up some of the Sauce with a brush and dabbing the breadsticks.

Presentation
Transfer the Breadsticks with Tongs to a plate and optionally garnish with Parmigiano, Parsley, Aleppo or Everything Bagel Seasoning.
Serve with a Dipping Sauce.
Types of Breadsticks
Original Twisty Bread
The Garlic Butter base with added Pesto is probably the closest to Dominos Original Twisty Bread Sauce since most of the ingredients that were on the back of the Twisty Sauce are also in Pesto Sauce, besides the pine nuts, I think. Either way it makes for crazy good Bread Sticks that satiates that old style Dominos Twisty Bread craving. These are superb and a must-have!

Garlic Twisty Bread
Either just the use of Garlic Butter or Special Garlic Sauce to brush the breadstick gives you Garlic Twisty Bread. With parmigiano grated over top, we get Garlic Parm Twisty Bread.

Everything Bagel Sticks
Use Everything Bagel Seasoning on top of the Breadsticks as soon as they are brushed and transferred to the plate.
For Bagel Twistixs a Bagel wash is brushed on the dough before it gets cooked. It creates that Light & Dark Strip on the breadsticks.

Garlic Rosemary Bread Sticks
Make Rosemary the dominant Herb that comes through by adding in Ground Rosemary to taste to the Garlic Butter or Sauce. Optionally, with some whole rosemary for aesthetics.
Za’atar Bread Sticks
Sprinkle Za’atar seasoning on the breadsticks as soon as they are brushed with the Garlic Butter/Sauce.

Za’atar Twisty Bread
Twisty Bread seasoned with Za’atar seasoning and a side of Pizza Sauce for dipping.
Twisty Cheese Bread Sticks
This method stretches the Pizza dough into a large Square instead of a rectangle. The Dough then gets brushed with Garlic Sauce and a light sprinkle of Cheese, before being folded over and the ends pressed together to seam. Then slice the breadsticks and twist them before placing them on the screen or pan.
Pictured below uses Mozzarella Cheese. Add in other cheeses like Provolone, Cheddar, or Monterrey Jack for different versions.

Breadstick Dipping Sauce
Serve with some Pizza Sauce and/or Donair Sauce, as well as the leftover Garlic Sauce poured into a small dipping dish to dip the breadsticks in.

Pizza Sauce
Use a Pizza Sauce or Marinara Sauce to dip the Breadsticks in.

Donair Sauce
Donair Sauce is really good with Breadsticks, and I often dip between Pizza Sauce and Donair Sauce.

Garlic Sauce
More of a Garlic Kick can be had with this as a Dipping Sauce. Dip your Breadsticks into this and enjoy that Buttery Garlic Sauce.

Some of that Twisty Bread Sauce can be served on the side as a fourth dipping sauce too.
