Dominos Twisty Bread Sauce is a discontinued Sauce that was served with their very popular Twisty Bread sticks. There is a lot of people who miss this sauce because it was so damn good. With this recipe, you can at least make it at home to get those same flavors. Best of all, It’s not only for Twisty Bread. There’s other places this fantastic sauce can be used that may surprise you.
This is a copycat Dominos Twisty Bread Sauce recipe, used to brush twisty bread and is my attempt at recreating it or at least getting something that satiates that craving just the same.
What is Dominos Twisty Bread Sauce
This was a green oil-based sauce that was brushed on bread sticks and sold as the Dominos Twisty Bread. It is not the same as their garlic parmesan sauce or their garlic finger sauce. This instead came in a big green bottle and the ingredients included a lot of Pesto ingredients, and specifically Romano cheese, I am pretty sure Parmigiano too. It was a dark green mixture and pretty thick until it saw heat, then it was just like an oil.
Ingredients for Dominos Twisty Bread Sauce
Garlic Butter (Butter, Parsley, Green Onion, Dehydrated Onion & Garlic, Butter Popcorn Seasoning, Dill, Aleppo, Aioli (Neutral Oil, Garlic, Sea Salt)), Pesto. Optionally with Parmigiano.
Garlic Butter
Either the Garlic Butter or Garlic Sauce can be used. The Garlic Butter is a bit extensive since it is based on an Aioli. On the other hand, the Garlic Sauce is quick and easy to put together. Either one can be used as the garlic base and may just come down to preference. If however making the Twisty Sauce Pasta, then use Garlic Butter. For Twisty Bread or Bread Bites, either Garlic Butter or Garlic Sauce can be used.
Pesto Sauce
Jarred Pesto combined with the Garlic Butter or Garlic Sauce is what comprises the Twisty Bread Sauce. That’s it! Just combine the two and you got Twisty Bread Sauce. Use a ratio of 1:1 for Bread Sticks. Optionally use a 2:1 ratio of either Garlic Sauce or Pesto to make it more Garlic Butter/Sauce forward or Pesto forward.
Cheese
Freshly grated Parmigiano can be added in to boost the cheese flavor. Other Cheeses may include Romano, or Asiago, especially in the case where the Twisty Bread Sauce will be used with Bread Sticks, Bread Bites, Garlic Bread, or Garlic Fingers.

Spicy Twisty Bread Sauce
For some heat, add to the Twisty Bread Sauce either Cayenne Pepper, Red Chili Flakes or Black Pepper.
Where to use Twisty Bread Sauce
Besides Twisty Bread, this sauce is used on Bread Bites, a different variation of Twisty Bread and in a Pasta dish I call the Twisty Sauce Pasta. You could brush this on Garlic Bread too, or Garlic Fingers for a Herby Garlic Finger dish. Even to brush the crust after the pizza has cooked for a herb crusted pizza.
Twisty Bread
Originally designed for Twisty Bread and these are so good. Usually made as a side dish when already making pizzas. Served with dipping sauces!

Bread Bites
Bread Bites are just the same as Twisty Bread, except the strips of dough are further sliced into bite size pieces. Cooked and sauced just like Twisty Bread. Optionally topped off with freshly grated Parmigiano.

Twisty Sauce Pasta
Yep! That same Twisty Bread Sauce makes for an excellent and elegant Twisty Sauce Pasta dish. The only thing is that the Pesto is added very last, and we use twice the amount to make it more pesto forward. The base sauce is made with Garlic Butter, that is also used to cook the mushrooms and chicken and then combined with Pasta Water & Parmigiano to create a base sauce. To which Pesto is added very last and off heat. Same sauce, we’re just combining it or using it differently for a pasta dish.
