The Taco Nacho Platter with Tortilla Chips covered in Cheddar Cheese and placed in the stove until the cheese is melted. Then topped with taco meat, salsa, red taco sauce & sour cream. It’s a taco enjoyed as a nacho platter.
Taco Nacho Variations
Taco nachos have so many variations. With switching the sour cream for cilantro cream sauce or the Salsa with Pico de Gallo or in combinations with the Salsa. Guacamole can be added as well as refried beans.
It can be topped with green onions, shredded lettuce, mild or hot peppers, cilantro, chili flakes, aleppo, or guacamole. Whatever you’re in the mood for.
Taco Nacho Platter Ingredients
Ground beef (or 50/50 beef & pork), Old El Paso taco seasoning, Tostitos tortilla chips, Cheddar Cheese, Red Taco Sauce, Salsa or Pico de Gallo, and Sour Cream.
Optionally with green onions and cilantro or parsley and chili flakes to garnish.

Tostitos
Mostly always tortilla chips, but the chips can also be swapped out or exchanged with Doritos chips.

Cheese
Shredded cheddar cheese on top. Usually always melted, but you certainly don’t have to. You could even go for a Nacho Cheese melt drizzled over top or on the side to dip in.
Another good cheese is Monterrey Jack. Along with the Cheddar Cheese, the Tex Mex Cheese or Old Fort White Cheddar Cheese is really good too.

Taco Meat
Use Old El Paso Taco Seasoning. Cook the ground meat per instructions for tacos and sprinkle the meat over the nachos.
I always add 1/2 cup of water to the ground meat to mix so that it yields small granules like a paste, while it cooks.

Homemade Salsa
Salsa is used in this recipe and contributes chunky bits of vegetables and some sauce. But you could substitute it with Pico de Gallo or use it alongside the Salsa. You could also combine the Red Taco Sauce with pico de gallo for your salsa.
Another option is to just dice some onions, tomatoes, and peppers. Either throw them in with the taco meat towards the end or just sprinkle them on top of the nacho platter before going into the oven.

Red Taco Sauce
Red Taco Sauce is the main sauce that is drizzled over the nachos. This takes about 10 minutes to prepare and is completely optional.

Sour Cream
Place the sour cream in a squeeze bottle so that it can be squeezed out over the nachos. Which makes it easier to get more sour cream that is spread out and presentation as well. This can also be replaced with cilantro cream sauce or cilantro sauce.
