Multi Purpose Quick Tomato Sauce with a bit of Ketchup and heavily seasoned with Herbs & Spices. It’s a very nice Herby Sauce and is ready in about 10 minutes. It’s not like your traditional Sauce. This is unique and something of its own.
It’s my go-to Sauce for the Cheeseburger Oven Subs and is excellent in a Pasta Bake too.
Tomato Sauce Ingredients
Tomato Paste
Use a good Quality Double or Triple Concentrate Tomato Paste.
With a Neutral Oil, Rendered Fat or Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Broth
Use 1 Maggi Bouillon cube with 2 Cups of Water to create the Broth. Use Maggi Chicken, Beef or Knorr Pork Bouillon.

Ketchup
Use either French’s Ketchup or Heinz Chili Sauce. This is what gives the sauce that sweet high note.

- 1 Maggi Bouillon Cube
- 2 C Crushed Tomatoes
- 1/4 C Ketchup
- 1 Tbl Basil, Onion, Parsley, Sugar
- 1/2 Tbl Garlic
- 1 tsp Aleppo Pepper, Oregano, Savory
- 1/2 tsp Sea Salt

Passata Quick Tomato Sauce
The Tomato Paste & Crushed Tomatoes can be exchanged with 1×680 ml bottle of Passata for an even quicker version where you don’t have to cook the Tomato Paste & Oil. Reduce the water down to 1/2 C and use half of everything else. The recipe is outlined below with all the changes.
I recently tested this out with the Pizza Pasta Bake, and it was just as good. It’s a Fantastic Tomato Sauce. You can even swap out the Savory with Marjoram for a more Pizza aroma and flavor to the Sauce, or keep the Savory for a more Pasta kind of Sauce. Either way, it works really well for both Pasta & Pizza.
Just throw everything into a pot and bring it to a boil while mixing. That’s it.
If you’re looking for a bigger batch then just omit the Tomato Paste, Crushed Tomatoes and reduce the Water to 1 Cup or a bit more than 1 Cup depending on the consistency you are looking for with everything else being the same in the main recipe and use 2×680 ml bottles of Mutti Passata.
- 1/4 C Oil
- 1 C Water or more
- 2×680 ml Mutti Passata
- 1/4 C Ketchup
- 1 Cube Maggi Bouillon – Beef, can use Chicken or Knorr Pork
- 1 Tbl Basil, Onion Powder, Parsley, Sugar
- 1/2 Tbl Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Aleppo Pepper, Oregano, Savory
- 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
- To Taste, Black Pepper
Mutti Passata
This stuff is just Phenomenal. Used for either Pasta or Pizza Sauce.
Freezing Tomato Sauce
Place into Ziploc Bags and freeze in 200 g portions or portions that you typically use, 200 g per portion. Thaw overnight in the fridge to use, or place it directly into a saucepan over medium low heat covered and mix every so often until thawed and heated through.
