Greek Onions & Peppers is a side dish to accompany main courses like souvlaki or a souvlaki platter or Greek pork chops or as a topping for Greek gyros or souvlaki wraps. It’s incredibly easy too. Just sauté slivered onions and pepper in ladolemono with a bit of Goya Adobo seasoning or the homemade version of it or use a Greek seasoning; that’s it!
Ingredients for Greek Onions & Peppers
Onion, Bell Peppers, Ladolemono, Homemade Goya Adobo Seasoning.
Optionally include chilies such as jalapeño, serrano, red Thai chiles, and crushed chiles de arbol for heat.
Ladolemono
Ladolemono is a Greek sauce used and shared across many Greek-style dishes. For this recipe, we use it as the oil base for sautéing onions and peppers. While the lemon juice adds a bit of tang and the garlic adds some additional flavors that work well with both the onions and peppers.

Onions
Any type of onion will work here. If desired, to reduce the pungency of the onions, soak them in water and strain before frying. Chop the ends off and slice head to root into slivers. You want the onion slivers to be just as wide as the peppers and vice versa.
Peppers
Use any type of peppers. While bell peppers and the varying colors are typically used. You can opt to use small sweet peppers, long sweet red peppers, and other kinds of peppers. Slice these into slivers the same width as your onions.
Heat
Add chili peppers, a sprinkle of red chili flakes, chilies de arbol, or cayenne pepper for additional heat if desired.
Greek Onions & Peppers Seasoning
The seasoning used is the homemade Goya adobo seasoning, which is added to taste. This is a dominant salt and garlic flavor with oregano and black pepper.
