The Grilled Chicken Burger, inspired by McDonald’s McGrill Chicken. Apparently not on the Menu anymore. But don’t worry, I got your Hook Up.
It is a relatively easy dish to prepare and made up fairly quickly. The only real-time is the marinating of the chicken breast. After that, it’s as simple as toasting the Buns and Grilling the Chicken. Top the Burger with Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Mayo and serve with a Chicken Caesar Salad or Homemade Fries.
There are a few variations as well, and the marinade works for the chicken to be used in Salads & Pizzas and other recipes. It’s a very good marinade for Chicken.
Chicken Breast
Use a good size chicken breast that you can cut in half horizontally to create 2 Chicken Fillets. For larger Chicken Breasts, cut in half vertically to create 4 fillets. Marinate the Chicken Breast for a few hours. You want the fillets to be about 1/2 inch thick or slightly thinner and slightly larger than the hamburger buns.
Trim if necessary and fry any trimmings up to include with a Caesar Salad as a side, or save the trimming for Pizzas or Fried Rice and other dishes where chicken pieces are used.
Chicken Breasts
When cooking the chicken fillets, it will shrink a bit, so make sure that they are slightly larger than the Hamburger Buns.
Grilled Chicken Marinade
This marinade is what makes the Chicken. It is a fantastic Marinade. Once you have the ingredients combined. Marinate the Chicken for a few hours to fully develop the taste.
I also use this marinade for Chicken Parmesan & Chicken Parmizza.
Grill Chicken Marinade
- 1/2 C Water
- 1/4 C Oil
- 2 tsp Parmesan Cheese
- 1 tsp Chicken Powder & Sea Salt
- 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1/4 tsp Liquid Smoke & Onion Powder
- 1/8 tsp Black Pepper & Paprika
Buns
I use Sesame Hamburger Buns and sometimes a Sub Bun or Roll about 4–5 inches. Slightly smaller than the length of the Chicken Breast. In this case, you won’t have to trim the Chicken.
Buttered and Toasted Buns
Butter the Buns with Real Butter and Toast in a frying pan over medium heat. Press on the Buns Lightly so that you get even browning, and the Buns get soft.
Grilled Chicken Fillets
Once the Chicken has been marinated. Remove it from the Marinade and Grill the Chicken on the Grill, preferably with a press so that both sides cook at the same time. If not, then flipping the Chicken over to grill the other side works just as well. It only takes about 10 minutes give or take to finish cooking. There should be no pink in the middle and an internal temp of 165 F.
You could even do these in a frying pan or the oven. It’s not a Grilled Chicken anymore but still good just as well.
Grilled Chicken Burger Toppings
The Classic Tomato Slices, Shredded or Chopped Lettuce, and Mayonnaise or Pepper Zing Mayo is used to top this Burger off. You can also swap the Lettuce out with Spinach.
