This is my go-to recipe for Egg Salad sandwiches that may be familiar to a Tim Hortons Egg Salad Sandwich. You can eat this all by itself in a bowl like the Eggs and Toast recipe, as a sandwich on Buttered Bread or a Sub Bun, or on a wrap for an Egg Salad Wrap.
Try it with English Muffins, Bagels, or on a Sub Bun with lettuce and maybe some sliced tomatoes or cucumbers or a croissant. This is one of the sandwiches I use for a sandwich Platter along with Chicken/Turkey and Ham.
Best Eggs
The best eggs for flavor are always going to be your free-range eggs. These eggs will taste far better than store-bought and usually have an orange yolk instead of yellow. However, these are sometimes difficult to peel.
For Egg Salad, you want to use older eggs, if using free-range eggs. With store-bought eggs, you don’t usually run into any issues with peeling.
HOW TO BOIL EGGS
Bring a pot of water to a boil, enough to cover the Eggs. Gently lower the Eggs in and Boil for 12–14 minutes, depending on how firm you like the Egg Yolks. Empty the water out and fill with Cold Water. Repeat until the Eggs can be handled and peeled. Peel the Eggs under running water and place them into a serving bowl.
How to Steam Eggs
Add 1 inch of water to a pot and bring to boil. Add Eggs to the steamer basket and place over the pot. Cover and continue to cook 6 minutes for soft-boil and 12 minutes for hard-boiled.
Immediately place eggs in ice water for 15 minutes before peeling under cold running water.
Egg Salad Sandwich Toppings
Add Lettuce and Sliced Tomatoes! These are great on an Egg Salad sandwich and is how Tim Hortons serves theirs.

How to make Egg Salad
Just add cooled hard-boiled eggs with the remaining ingredients and mash to the desired consistency. You can also just combine the Yolks with the remaining ingredients like you were making deviled eggs to create a thicker sauce, and then mash the Whites in. Either way is fine and comes down to preference.
Egg Salad Add-ins
Add Pimento Strips or even chopped Roasted Red Peppers. I can’t quite remember if Tim Hortons Egg Salad Sandwich included chopped Pimentos or not.
Other ingredients you can add in based on preference is Dijon Mustard in place of mustard powder. You can optionally add in Chives, Dill, Green Onions, Horseradish, or Lemon Juice. For Extreme Egg Lovers. Add a pinch of Black Salt. It does an amazing job at elevating that Sulfuric Egg Flavor.
Double Decker Egg Salad Sandwich
Make the sandwich as you normally would then on top place a Chicken Salad, Ham, Deviled Ham, or Corned Beef Spread and another Bread Slice for a Double Decker Sandwich. These are seriously good and filling.
