Chili Tang Chicken



Chili Tang Chicken is an extremely easy recipe that is based on the Salt & Pepper Chicken and Air Fried instead of Baked. It has a subtle heat with a noticeable tang coming from the citric acid.
All you have to do is combine the seasoning and sprinkle it on the chicken all over. This dish can be served at the table in little as 30 minutes. Steam some vegetables or Rice at the same time the Chicken is cooking or make a Salad and you got yourself a full course meal.
Chicken
The Chicken I used for this dish is Chicken Drumsticks. Although any cut can be used with the cook times adjusted. Typically you want an internal temp of 157 F for white meat and 175 F for dark meat.
Chili Tang Chicken Seasoning
The Seasoning is based off of the Salt & Pepper Seasoning which is
- 1 Tbl Sea Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp White Pepper
To the above add 1 tsp Chili Powder & 1/2 tsp Citric Acid. That’s it!
Mix this together really well and use it over the Chicken.
This is the beautiful thing about simplicity and the base Salt & Pepper seasoning. You can add Herbs & Spices to alter the flavor and still keep it simple.
This is also a very good Seasoning to use on Turkey or Pork Chops. In fact, all of the Salt & Pepper Chicken variations can be used for other meats as just as well.
Air Frying
Place the Seasoned Chicken into the Air fryer in a single layer with space between each piece. Air Fry at 400 F for 25 minutes. Flipping it over halfway through. Let rest 5- 10 minutes before serving.

- Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 8 Chicken Drumsticks
- 1 Tbl Sea Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper & Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp White Pepper & Citric Acid
Instructions
- Completely thaw Chicken if not using fresh. Combine the Seasoning and Sprinkle all over the chicken.
- Place into the Air Fryer in a single layer with space between each drumstick. Air Fry at 400 F for 25 minutes. While the Chicken is cooking, prepare your side dish at the same time.
- Remove from the Air Fryer and allow to rest 5 – 10 minutes.
