What a wonderful Tuna Sandwich loaded with Umami Flavors! Get your taste buds ready for this one. This isn’t your classic Tuna Sandwich where the Flavors hit high. Instead, this delivers on deep, rich and savory flavors that pair exceptionally well with the Tuna. Eat it Cold or Hot!
Seafood Mayo
The Seafood Mayo is what brings this together into a Seriously Good Tuna Sandwich, that just has its own unique flavor and leaves you wanting more.
Seafood Mayo
Just mix it in a bowl and add the well strained can of Tuna.
- 1/4 C Mayonnaise – Hellmann’s or Homemade Mayo
- 3/4 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1/4 tsp Hondashi, Sriracha, Garlic Powder, Butter Popcorn Seasoning, & Aleppo Pepper
Canned Tuna
Use canned Tuna in water with all the juices squeezed out. I use the no name cans, they weigh about 170 g, 120 g when drained or the Portuguese Style canned Tuna.
Canned Tuna
Tuna Filling
Bread
White Bread for Panini Style or just a cold Sandwich. Although this is just as good on Sliced French Bread, Italian, and sub buns or Hoagies too. My favorite though is English Muffins. It’s really up to you and what you’re in the mood for.
Cheese
Add Cheese! Sliced Cheddar Cheese, Velveeta Cheese or other Cheese Slices or shredded cheese for Tuna Melts.
Cheese Slice
Either Cheddar Cheese or Velveeta Cheese Slices.
Tuna Melt
A Tuna Melt is a Tuna Sandwich made with cheese and heated until the cheese melts, usually eaten hot.
Tuna Melt
Toast the English Muffins, butter and fill them with the Tuna Filling, Cheese Slice and wrap in tinfoil. Pop it into the oven at 450 F for 5 minutes. Optionally, place them in the oven without tinfoil for about 3 minutes for a crispy Tuna Melt.
Tuna Panini
This is one of my favorites too, and I often switch between a Tuna Melt and a Tuna Panini. Although, you could call the Tuna Panini a Tuna Melt as well. I sometimes go with the Cold Tuna Sandwich too. I guess it all depends on what the belly wants at a particular time.
Regular Mayonnaise is spread on the outside to assist in browning and add extra flavor. Parsley & Aleppo is sprinkled on for aesthetics before being grilled.
Tuna Panini
Slice the Tuna Panini in half, either straight down the middle for 2 even sides, or diagonal.
Grilled Tuna Sandwich
Made the same way as a Grilled Cheese with Tuna. Pan Fried in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crisp to your liking.
