Oh my, yes indeed, this is a Sandwich Wrap you definitely need! You don’t even know. This is a Chourico Kebab Wrap with Portuguese Chourico Kebabs stuffed inside a steamed Pita Bread, an assortment of Vegetables & Chourico Sweet Heat Sauce or other sauces like Piri Piri Sauce & Mustard. It’s all wrapped up in a Pita Pocket and extremely satisfying.

With the Pork marinated for a full 24 hours or if done previously and frozen into portions, this meals comes together pretty quick and can be served with Fries or Chips on the side. Serve it with Piri Piri or Cajun spice for the Fries or Piri Piri, BBQ, Sweet Chili Heat Chips.

Portuguese Chourico Kebabs

Head on over and prepare the Portuguese Chourico Kebabs, dicing the meat into 1 inch cubes. Once these are marinated, you can use some to make the Chourico Kebab Wrap, then portion and freeze the remaining for future meals. I use 2 Kebabs for 1 Chourico Wrap.

Once marinated for 24 hours, Skewer and cook to an internal temp of 145 F or greater and stuff the Steamed Pitas.

Chourico Kebab Wrap Vegetables

This recipe makes use of Lettuce, Cucumbers, Diced Tomatoes, Green Onions, Shallots and Red Bell Peppers. Although, a whole assortment of Vegetables can go in. Some ideas are below.

Chourico Kebab Wrap Bread

The go-to Bread for this wrap is a Steamed Pita Bread. Heat the steamer up and steam the Pita Bread until softened, just a few seconds. Tear along the edge about 40 % just the same as Pita Pit.

Chourico Kebab Wrap Sauce

This recipe uses a Sweet Heat Sauce made with Mayo, Sugar, Yellow Mustard and Frank’s RedHot Sauce. Optionally, the Hot Sauce can be exchanged with a Piri Piri Sauce or Sriracha added to taste. You can also do just Mustard with a bit of Piri Piri Sauce added to taste.

  • 1/4 C Mayo
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tsp Frank’s RedHot Sauce

How to make Chourico Kebab Wrap

Start by preparing the Chourico Kebabs, dicing at about 1 inch and letting marinate a full 24 hours.

Cook the Chourico Kebabs

Skewer the Meat with about 5 pieces per skewer and cook in a Rotisserie or the Oven. Use 2 Skewers for 1 Wrap. While that is cooking, prepare all the Vegetables, choice of Sauce and start the Steamer for the Pita Bread.

Steam the Pita bread until softened and open up about 40 % and separate the layers to create a pocket.

Stuff with assorted Vegetables

Spread some of the sauce on the bottom and stuff with Vegetables.

Add more Sauce

Add more Sauce on top of the Vegetables. Salt & Pepper to taste if desired.

Add Chourico Kebabs

Add 2 Skewers of Chourico Kebabs and fold over the top flap. Tuck it in tight and roll to create the Chourico Kebab Wrap.

Serve as is right away, or slice in half and serve. If serving later, wrap in wax paper.

Equipment

  • 1 Steamer
  • 1 Mixing Bowl for the Vegetables
  • 1 Rotisserie Unit or the Kebabs can be cooked in the oven or grill.

Ingredients

  • 4 Chourico Kebabs
  • 2 Pita Breads
  • 1 C Lettuce
  • 8 Slices Cucumber - sliced thick and then quartered
  • 1/2 Tomato - Diced
  • 1 Shallot - Sliced
  • 1 stalk Green Onion
  • 1/4 Whole Bell Pepper - diced or sliced into strips

Chourico Kebab Wrap Sauce

  • 1/4 C Mayo
  • 2 tsp Yellow Mustard
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Hot Sauce - or more of Frank's RedHot, Piri Piri Sauce or Sriracha

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chourico Kebabs into about 1 inch cubes and let marinate overnight, or take previously marinated and frozen Chourico Meat and skewer about 5 pieces unto each skewer.
  • Place the skewer into a rotisserie at 400 F for 15 minutes, or into the oven at 400 F for 15 – 20 minutes.
    While the Kebabs are cooking, prepare the Vegetables & Sauce. Once the Kebabs are done, set aside to cool.
  • Steam the Pita Bread for a few seconds on each side until softened. Open up along the edge about 40 % and separate to create a pocket.
  • Assemble;
    Spread some sauce on the bottom
    A handful of the Vegetables in the middle
    Salt & Pepper if desired
    Drizzle the Sauce over the Vegetables
    Add 2 Chourico Kebabs per Wrap
    Fold over the top flap and tuck it in and roll tight. Serve right away, or wrap in waxed paper to serve later.
