Butter Chicken Poutine

Butter Chicken Poutine is Butter Chicken Curry over French Fries and Topped with Cheese. Such a Tasty Dish, and as Spicy as you like using JAH Butter Chicken Masala.

Butter Chicken is a Creamy Tomato-Based Curry. That often contains cubed chicken. It can be exchanged for cubed pork or paneer. Usually served over rice or with naan/pita bread and a few vegetables. Here we are using it over French Fries for a Butter Chicken Poutine.

Usually, I go with Store-Bought Fries. Homemade Fries can be made and used for this dish.

The Key thing with Fries is to deep fry them until there is no more steam. I employ a 3 X deep fry. The first time is the cook-through. The second time is to allow the oil to return to temperature and get rid of all the steam and the Third time is for final crisping. Just a few seconds.

Heat up the Fryer at the same time you are making the butter chicken sauce so that everything can come together hot. Hold off on the third fry until you have the sauce and meat ready.

Butter Chicken Sauce

The Butter Chicken Sauce uses JAH Butter Chicken Masala. It’s an extremely simple and tasty dish.

  1. Cook Tomato Paste and Fat. Optionally add Onions & Peppers.
  2. Add Tomato Juice and JAH Butter Chicken Masala. Along with some cooked meats if desired.
  3. Finally Add Cream or a substitute for cream.

Meats

The cooked meats are cubed Chicken or Pork. Seasoned or not with Tandoori Seasoning. I have my own blend for this that I am currently tweaking. Although Kissan Tandoori would be my recommended Tandoori Seasoning for the meats if you don’t have JAH Tandoori Seasoning.

Cook the meat in the oven before adding it to the Butter Chicken sauce at the same time the Tomato Juice goes in with the seasoning. Then simmer the meat along with the sauce until it is reduced to a thicker consistency (Gravy like).

Baked Chicken Quarters

Another option is to go with Baked Chicken Quarters, seasoned with Salt & Pepper or Tandoori Spice. Then strip the meat down and include it in the Poutine.

I’ve used this option in the recipe below so that each plate gets one chicken quarter. Stripped down and added on top of the fries before the Butter Chicken Sauce goes on.

Just strip the meat down and keep it warm in the oven. When ready to assemble the Poutine, add it to the plate.

Butter Chicken Vegetables

Add sliced or Diced Onions & Peppers into the Butter Chicken Curry Sauce if desired.

Add them into the Tomato Paste and Oil to sauté a bit before adding in the sauce, or Sauté separately and add towards the end.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb French Fries - – Homemade or store-bought
  • 1 portion JAH Butter Chicken Sauce - – with your choice of meat
  • Mozzarella Cheese - – as desired
  • Onions & Peppers - – Optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the Deep Fryer and Prepare the Butter Chicken Sauce. Keep this on warm.
  • Deep Fry the French Fries. Plate the Fries and Sprinkle Mozzarella Cheese on top. Then Ladle over the Butter Chicken Sauce or Ladle the Butter Chicken sauce and top with Cheese.
    Optionally Garnish with Red Pepper Flakes & Parsley or Green Onions.
