Salmon Spread is Smoked Dry Salmon mixed with Cream Cheese, Sour Cream and a few other ingredients. Spread on Crackers like Vegetable Thins, Ritz Crackers or spread on top of Bagels or Baked Salmon.
Salmon
Most often I use Smoked BBQ Salmon. This is absolutely the best. Although I have made it with just Smoked Salmon, or Sweet Glazed Smoked Salmon. I still say the BBQ Smoked Salmon is the best. This also gives it a Pink Hue with specs of Salmon.
Use any Type of Salmon you’d like. The featured image was made with Sweet Glazed Smoked Salmon. I couldn’t find the BBQ Smoked one. The next time I make it and have BBQ Smoked Salmon, I will post that picture as well.
Look for a small portion, 5–6 ounces. BBQ Seasoned Smoked with a dry exterior, almost like a jerky. Comes in a single packaged portion, usually at the front of the Seafood Section in your grocery store.
No matter what type of Salmon or additional ingredients you place in. Salmon is the Star of this dish, so use a good quality Salmon.
If your Salmon comes with the Skin Attached, don’t include this with the Dip. Instead, save the Skin to make crackling to either munch on, garnish or use in place of the crackers.
Mixing Salmon Spread
I mix this by hand in a Steel bowl. You can choose to do this in a Food Processor or a Mixer with a Whisk Attachment. Mix until there are only small specs of Salmon throughout the Dip and a smooth and even consistency, and refrigerate.
