The Big Boy Homemade Quarter Pounder Burger by McDonald’s! It’s a very good size Burger and although simplistic, packs some good Beefy Cheese Flavor.
McDonald’s Description reads for the Quarter Pounder as.
A quarter pound of 100% Canadian beef and two slices of melting processed cheddar cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun. That’s pure Canadian beefy cheesiness.
Standard Burger Information
Check out my post on How to Make Burgers. Which discusses how to make the Burger Patties, their sizes, How to cook and the Seasonings for Burger Patties. Other topics include Toasting the Buns and Wrapping the Burgers, as well as freezing the Patties.
It’s an informative post outlining the various components that come together to create your Burger. The Toppings & Sauces are up to you.
Quarter Pound Burger Patties
Make the below Burger Mixin with very cold ground beef and weigh out 114g and shape into a Quarter Pound Burger Patty. Place these on a baking sheet to freeze.
If making a bunch of these up, freeze them on a baking sheet and once frozen transfer to a freezer bag. Optionally stack them with waxed paper to separate them.
Burger Mixin
For every 1 lbs. of Ground Beef, add the below Burger Mixin to add Flavor, Umami and Texture.
- 1 tsp Beef Powder
- 1/2 tsp MSG
- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
Quarter Pound Patties
Seared and Seasoned Quarter Pound Burger Patties over medium heat.
Burger Seasoning
McDonald’s states they use only Salt & Pepper to season the Burgers. For this, I like my very own Salt & Pepper Blend to season the Burgers. Either Season the Burgers before they go into the Skillet or Sear and then seasoned the sear side. Repeat for the other side when done searing. Seasoning the Burger Patties after searing will preserve the freshness of the Black Pepper more. But either way is fine.
If serving Fries with this Homemade Quarter Pounder, the Seasoned Salt can be used to Season the Fries after they have been Deep Fried or before they go into the Air Fryer for Air Fryer Fries.
Salt & Pepper Blend
- 1 Tbl Sea Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp White Pepper
Quarter Pound Burger Buns
McDonald’s has these on Sesame Buns. Butter the Buns and toast in a skillet over medium heat.

Quarter Pounder Toppings
The McDonald’s Quarter Pounder is topped with a pinch of Slivered Onions & Two Sliced Pickles with Two Cheddar Cheese slices and some Ketchup & Mustard. I usually buy the French’s Brand. However, Heinz Chili Sauce is the Ketchup that I use for McDonald’s Burger & Fries whenever I have this on hand. For some reason, it reminds me of the Older McDonald’s Ketchup.
Ketchup & Mustard
Five small dollops of Mustard and Five larger dollops of Ketchup.
I find that the Heinz Chili Sauce is best for the Ketchup. Both on Burgers and Fries.
Onions
Chop the Onion into about 1 inch long by 1/8-1/4 inch wide slivers.
Sauté them to your liking after toasting the Buttered Hamburger Buns, or just soak in water until ready to top the Burgers.
Pickles
Two pickles per burger.
Cheese Slice
Cheese Slices, Real Cheddar Cheese Slice or Velveeta Cheese Slices can be used.
Bacon
Add Bacon! For a Bacon Cheese Quarter Pounder.
