The Buffalo Dog is a Fried Hot Dog on a Steamed & Toasted Hot Dog Bun topped with Mayo & Franks RedHot Sauce. Add additional toppings like Bacon Bits, Onions, and Cheddar or Monterrey Jack Cheese.

This Hot Dawg got a little bit of a kick.

Hot Dogs

Chicken Hot Dogs Fried in the Skillet with some butter.

Optionally finely chop some bacon and cook. Then add some Onions and cook until softened, scoop aside and then toast the buns, before frying up the hot dogs in the Bacon fat.

Steamed & Toasted Buns

Butter & Steam the buns first. This makes it easier to open the buns flat so that they can be toasted. Toast them in a skillet over medium heat to your liking.

Place some water into the skillet over max heat with a pizza screen on top to place the buns on. Cover with a lid that allows room for the buns and steam only a few seconds to soften. Then empty the water and reduce the heat to medium to toast the buns.

Optionally toast in the oven. Just place the Hot Dogs on the buns with Bacon & Onions if using, and some cheese. Toast them up in the oven at 450 F for 5 minutes. Top with Mayo & RedHot Sauce.

Buffalo Hot Dog Sauce

Add Mayo on one side & Franks RedHot Sauce drizzled over top. Add as little or as much as you can handle. Optionally combine Butter & RedHot Sauce for a Buffalo Sauce and drizzle over the hot dogs.

Buffalo Dogs

Fried Hot Dogs on a Buttered Steamed & Toasted Bun topped with Cheddar Cheese, Mayo & Franks RedHot Sauce. Optionally add Bacon and Sautéed Onions.

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Hot Dogs
  • 4 Hot Dog Buns
  • As Needed Butter
  • As Desired Mayo
  • As Desired Franks RedHot Sauce
  • As Desired Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Instructions

  • Place some water into the Skillet and the Pizza Screen on top to steam the buns over max heat. Place the buns on top of the screen and cover with a lid. Steam only a few seconds to soften the buns.
  • Empty the water out, and place the skillet on medium heat. Open the buns up flat and butter them. Toast them in the skillet. Once toasted, set them aside on a plate.
  • If adding Bacon & Onions. Chop the bacon up fine and fry in the skillet. Add Diced Onions and cook until softened. Remove the Bacon & Onions to top the Hot Dogs later, and fry the Hot dogs in the rendered bacon fat.
    Else
    Add the Hot Dogs to the skillet with some butter and fry the hot dogs. Place them on the buns.
  • Spread mayo on one side and drizzle Franks RedHot Sauce over the hot dog and mayo. Top with Bacon & Onions if using, and Shredded Cheddar Cheese.
