HP BBQ Beans

BBQ Beans is a very simple yet delicious recipe with 3 ingredients. Pinto Beans, HP BBQ Sauce, and Water. The Beans are soaked overnight and then placed inside a slow cooker with Water and HP BBQ Sauce. Mixed and then slow cooked.

Soaking the Beans

Soaking the beans not only speeds up the cooking process by a bit. But also gives the beans time to absorb the water and soften, which results in more even cooking of the beans as well.

You can use any beans you like. For this post, I used Pinto Beans. I placed them in water and allowed for them to soak overnight before straining the water out and placing them inside a slow cooker with water and HP BBQ Sauce.

BBQ Beans Sauce

The Sauce is used along with some water to cook the beans in my HP BBQ Sauce Post and can be made up in 10 minutes.

The added water is to help the beans cook. After 2 hours in the slow cooker, the beans are moved to a skillet on max heat, and the liquid is reduced to a sauce consistency. As the Liquid Thickens, you will need to stir more frequently to keep things moving along. Then remove from the heat source and let cool.

If you find that you reduced it too much, you can add additional water to bring it back up to the right consistency.
