All of your neighbors are going to know when you cook up a batch. Make sure you open your windows. This is a powerful BBQ Sauce that you are sure to love.
It is absolutely one of the best BBQ sauce I had ever tasted. I further experimented with Burgers, Ribs, Pork Chops, Pulled Pork, Wings, over Fried Chicken, and more. Every single time it was a fantastic sauce. It is better than any store-bought BBQ Sauce, hands down. With such a Sweet, Smokey Zing to it. It matches so well, offering that Smokey BBQ feel.
Berry BBQ Sauce Ingredients
The sauce is pretty simple, only consisting of a few ingredients. All of it goes into the Pot to bring to a boil and then simmered until the desired consistency.
- Ketchup
- Red Wine Vinegar
- White Sugar
- Molasses
- Liquid Smoke
- Kosher Salt
- Black Pepper
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
Ketchup
French’s Ketchup I find is the best and the kind I always buy.
Red Wine Vinegar
Any kind of Red Wine Vinegar can be used.
Liquid Smoke
Both Hickory & Mesquite work extremely well. You can find this at your local grocery store by the Worcestershire sauce and stuff.
Molasses
Black Strap Molasses is usually added for sauces and will give a more Molasses taste. Fancy Molasses is sweeter and light. Either one will work and may come down to personal preference.
Sugar
Either White Sugar, Brown Sugar or Yellow Sugar can be used.
Berry BBQ Sauce Seasoning
The seasoning is pretty straight forward. Add Kosher or Sea Salt, Black Pepper, Onion, & Garlic Powder.
Cooking Berry BBQ Sauce
Combine all the ingredients together. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer. Make sure you watch it. It can boil over if it gets too hot. Keep reducing the Sauce until desired thickness. About 20 minutes over medium-low to medium heat.
This is where the aroma is really going to fill the air. It’s such a beautiful thing and so tasty too. The longer simmer time reduces the sauce to a thicker BBQ Sauce consistency.
Berry BBQ Glaze
For a Glazing Sauce, keep the Berry BBQ Sauce relatively thin, about a 5-minute simmer is all that is needed to use for glazing meats.
How to Store Berry BBQ Sauce
Store in a Squeeze bottle with a cap or in a Tupperware container and refrigerate. I’ve had this last probably a month for me. It doesn’t last much longer than that, it always gets used up. There’s just so much this BBQ Sauce can go on and even on the side for dipping fries.
Recipes using Berry BBQ Sauce
I’ve used this on Chicken, Chicken Wings, and Ribs. I’ll update with images when I make them again.
