Equipment
1 Skillet
1 Bowl for the Meatballs & Quick Honey Garlic Sauce
1 Baking Sheet for Homemade Meatballs
Ingredients
Pork Meatballs
1lbGround Pork - 454 g
1TblFlour
1tspSea Salt, Smoked Paprika, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder - each
Preparation: Combine Ground Pork, Flour, Sea Salt, Paprika, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, and Baking Soda into a bowl and mix well. Shape into 1 Tbl portion Meatballs and place them on a baking sheet. Once all the meatballs are made up, transfer the baking sheet to the freezer.Wash the bowl out and place all the ingredients for the Quick Honey Garlic Sauce to whisk and set aside until needed.
Sear the Meatballs: Place the pan large enough to fit all the meatballs in a single layer over medium heat for about 1 – 2 minutes. Then add the Frozen Meatballs and cover with a lid. Leave for 2–3 minutes. Uncover and move the meatballs around. Cover again and cook another 5 minutes. Shake the pan around every 30 seconds or so, to move the meatballs around, for a total cook time of 8 minutes.
Honey Garlic Meatballs: Add the Quick Honey Garlic Sauce and mix. It will come to a boil fast, so watch it, as it gets hot, it will rise, and you may need to remove from the heat to prevent over flowing. Continue to cook over medium heat until the desired consistency is reached. Keep in mind, the sauce will thicken slightly when cooled.
Serving: Serve these up as an appetizer with a toothpick inserted into each Meatball, or as a main course over Steamed or Fried Rice. Garnish with Green Onions & Sesame Seeds, maybe a bit of Chili Flakes or Sriracha for added heat.
Notes
Store Bought Meatballs: For a quick & easy meal, use store-bought meatballs, about 24–28 meatballs for 1 portion of quick honey garlic sauce. Sauce Consistency: If a thicker sauce is desired, set aside the meatballs after cooking to cool down a bit. Then add to a small bowl, an equal amount of Cornstarch or Potato Starch with Cold Water and mix, about 1/2 Tbl. Heat the Meatballs & Sauce over medium heat again and add the slurry a little at a time while mixing. Once thickened, immediately remove from heat. Repeat as necessary to get the desired thickness. If too thick, add water to adjust.
